Focus On Your Content More Than Style

Sometimes (or should I say ‘often’) we find ourselves tweaking and playing about with parts of our website or blog that really don’t need it. Next time you catch yourself tinkering – ask yourself “do I NEED to be doing this or am I just wasting time?”

Hello Martin! Overall very sensible advice. Well thought!

Of course sometimes people aim at the ‘woaw’ effect. People want to show off their skills… That can also be one reason why they spend too much time ‘tweaking’ their site.

You’re also speaking of ‘content all over the place’. That’s nevertheless an issue. How many categories should I present? Should I sort out my content better? Erase what is trivial so that people just get the ‘substantific marrow’ (Rabelais)? But I agree with you. We can just as well remain dynamic and work for the present. Any website is an archive and consequently irremediably accumulates DUST!…

As for the reactions of people: the problem is the same with your look. People are polite and don’t complain or criticize what they see. They judge and go. That’s why gettting a feedback from any ‘stranger’ is so difficult. But you’re right, people will willingly overlook the presentations flaws if you are truthful, clear and why not: creative!

    Cheers Martin!
