Do you want my opinion? I may not always be right but I tell it like I see it...
This is NOT an SEO blog - most of my writing, audio and videos focus on various elements of your complete "Internet Marketing Strategy".
I sincerely thank you for dropping by. Martin
A few years ago I gave away quite an expensive TV stand and just recently, after moving house and rearranging TVs (etc., blah, blah, blah) we could have really done with it. What did I do? Well, I went out and bought a new one, of course. I’m not gonna go and take back what I gave away, that’s just not on, is it?
But if you’re Facebook, that’s exactly what you do.
What do you do when you get too big for your boots? Well, you either squeeze, rather uncomfortably, into the boots you’ve got or you get bigger boots, of course. Or, if you’re Facebook, you just reclaim some of the extra room in your boots that you’d previously shared with other people – us.

Ehmm… Strawberries. Now who are you? Please tell. Who took the photo and who tagged themselves in it? How the heck should I know? Why am I even asking?
Facebook security check asked me! Yep. Please confirm your identity by telling us (FB) which of your friends is tagged in the following photographs – Photo numero uno: a bowl of strawberries.

Not quite sure about that one. I’m gonna have to guess. Shall we move on. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s been with us for a couple of months or so now and I’ve been monitoring the effect it has had on what once was our ‘Fanning’ antics – and there’s been some worrying activities emerging now that the universal ‘Like’ button has gone ‘mainstream’.
And you know what?
I’m becoming less of a ‘fan’ of the universal ‘like’ button everyday.
‘Clickjacking’ has taken on many forms recently and the most common version I’ve seen (there are many) is when a friend ‘likes’ some app that dives unrelentingly into your friends list before you get chance to click away.
You show me yours before I show you mine
I think a ’snapshot’ feature (like you get at Bing) would be a good thing here on FB, so we can get a preview of what a friend just ‘liked’ …before we click it.
why…? I hear you asking.
Well think back a few months and if you saw a friend had become a ‘Fan’ of something, you were fairly safe to click Read the rest of this entry »
I’m sure we all know that outdated content is something you don’t want on your website or blog – although so many ignore that guideline (probably because most blogs would lose 80%+ of their old posts) but how bad is it when one of the world-leaders in our social network forgets to remove their old adverts weeks after making massive changes?
Did Someone Miss The Memo?
For a few days now I have been noticing this advert and wondering which monkey at Facebook clearly did not read the memo that Fan Pages are no longer called Fan Pages and their is no such thing as a FAN any longer – we LIKE things now… Read the rest of this entry »
Yeah – I know – Facebook has made us all become ‘Likers‘ (I know it’s not a word but that’s what we are now)… I, like you, perhaps, was a ‘Fan’ of oodles of businesses but now I just ‘Like’ them – enough said about that though ‘cos here’s a big whopper of a warning! Read the rest of this entry »
I know I already sang the praises of the ‘Universal “Like” Button‘ and I stick to that but when Facebook originally unveiled the latest changes I, like many, was asked the inevitable “what d’ya think” by loads of people. Okay maybe not ‘loads’ – my wife asked me. Read the rest of this entry »
Change is good! Do we all agree? I hope so ‘cos that’s all I’m going to talk about here – changes! Facebook, by implementing the “universal ‘LIKE’ button” have, in many ways, done something cool. How often have you stared at a “please complete your personal profile” form and thought ‘oh gosh, what shall I add in here’… Read the rest of this entry »
Building your foundations. Sowing your seeds. Planting your roots. If you don’t do the ground work, forget to do the hard work that goes into preparing for the future – how can you expect to succeed in anything Read the rest of this entry »
If you want to know if something can be done – tell a stubborn old sod like me that it can’t be done and wait a day or two. That is pretty much what happened the other day when I was told “no way could you have your podcast on Facebook”… Read the rest of this entry »
Can you believe it? All these (sorry to say it) ’sad’ people who are taking Facebook to court for breaching some privacy rule or another. What’s the big deal? We are in control of our privacy settings and can change them whenever we like – in DETAIL for everything we do. Read the rest of this entry »
