As Mashable announced yesterday about the rumoured ‘Facebook Suggest’ being based on Face Detection technology and the potential it has for future developments – meaning our face alone could open, or slam shut, doors and opportunities – or the best seat in the house.
I’m still getting my grey-matter around the concepts and the potential but my first instinct is I don’t like it and that it’s all going too far too fast.
Face detection technology has some scary potential.
Imagine, if you will, face detection scanning cameras installed at the entrance to your favourite (no that is not a spelling mistake – I’m English, ok?) family restaurant, your local newsagents or a commercial supplier? What could the benefits be to the venue? Massive.
