Do You Recognize This Bowl Of Strawberries?

Ehmm… Strawberries. Now who are you? Please tell. Who took the photo and who tagged themselves in it? How the heck should I know? Why am I even asking?

Facebook security check asked me! Yep. Please confirm your identity by telling us (FB) which of your friends is tagged in the following photographs – Photo numero uno: a bowl of strawberries.

Not quite sure about that one. I’m gonna have to guess. Shall we move on.

My Mother Can’t Log in to Facebook

My Mum (or ‘Mom’ as my US and Canadian friends would say) has somehow been locked out of Facebook and after a couple of weeks of asking Facebook to send a ‘reset code’ we finally got one today. Next step, work through the ‘security’ checks which includes Facebook randomly throwing up photos plucked from Mum’s friends’ photo albums. The idea is that the user (my Mum) must choose which friend is ‘tagged’ in each photo and, should she get enough answers correct, and within a required (but unknown) timescale, the login will be reset and access will be granted.

Would you recognise your friends at a distance wearing a wig?

We’ve all seen photos our friends took of various things including dogs, babies, etc., and tagged themselves ‘in’ the photo. Any of these pics can be selected by Facebook during this ‘security’ check. So this can be a tad difficult.

I should also say that most of my mother’s friends are actors (background actors included) and many have an assortment of photos wearing various ‘disguises’ (make-up, false hair, etc) so it’s never going to be easy to recognise most of them at the best of times…

Okay, let’s try picture two: Shot at 50 paces in a crowd of sports fans – which one of these is your friend? Yeah – right… Now I know this is a no-win situation.

Becoming too tough. Let’s try an easier one.

Maybe we’re missing the rules of this game. Reminder: all we have to do is recognise which of our (my Mother’s) friends is tagged in the photo (the photo has been grabbed at random from an album she may never have looked at and does not necessarily include the person who is actually ‘tagged’ – hence the strawberries above).

Picture quiz question 3: Two almost identical looking women with long dark hair dancing with a bunch of friends in a crowded nightclub. Easy enough? What shall we do? Pick the one in the middle?

Picture 4: Who is tagged in this photo – taken on a movie set full of zombified actors.

Facebook: You are having a laugh for sure.

Obviously we failed miserably and my mother remains locked out of Facebook for a few hours longer.

Surely there’s an easier way to confirm the identity of a little old lady who just wants to get back on to Facebook to see the latest photos of her grand children?
