Streaming Movies. Please Try Again Later

We wish to thank you for shelling out your 100 quid on your fancy little Apple TV gadget which, by the way, cost you about $60 (a massive 40%) more in the UK than your US friends are paying, and for giving us six quid a month for the pleasure of staring at this…

Streaming Movies & TV (NetFlix, Apple TV)

The entire family agrees; NetFlix is pants!

Who shall we blame? Shall we blame the broadband connection? The phone line? The Apple TV box? The Wi-Fi connection? The TV? The HDMI lead? The carpet? The brand of AA batteries in the remote control?

Almost 10 attempts it took yesterday for all is to be able to actually watch the movie we were trying to watch!

Whenever we use NetFlix (or, rather, TRY to use NetFlix), typically we spend several minutes going in and out of the menu to try again before we get the program to actually play.

This is the future? Give me a VHS tape any day – at least they worked!

Sorry for your troubles with Netflix, but with their recent
gaffes it’s not entirely unexpected.  I switched over to DISH last year,
and when a DISH coworker told me about the Blockbuster @ Home movie package I signed
right up.  It costs less than Netflix ($10/mo) and gives me more
options.  I can access over 100,000 movies, games and TV shows, and DISH
even gave me an extra 20 HD movie channels for my regular lineup.  I can
get movies by mail or in-store exchange, and while Netflix focuses on their DVD
aspect, DISH just added another 6,000 titles to the streaming library.
The variety is fantastic, and the library is always growing.  DISH is SO
much less stressful to use than Netflix ever was.

I almost took your comment seriously and said “thank you for the comment” but then I saw that the above is almost the same as all the other comments you leave around the web. It is obvious you have alerts set-up that inform you of any mention of NetFlix so you can mention your amazing DISH and BlockBuster package.

My apologies Mr. Koss.  I do work for DISH and DO take an active interest in comparing other services with my provider.  I wasn’t trying to spam, but I do feel I get a better value with DISH, with less stress, than with Netflix.  I understand the two offer different services, but in terms of streaming etc. the information I gave was correct.  I post often, and my posts often sound similar.  I was not trying to troll your site, and I do not have an alerts set up.  All my search queries are done manually.  Thank you for at least responding to me, and I apologize if I have inconvenienced you in any way.

Very polite and respectful of you to explain your position. Thank you. I’m not sure, however, if DISH is of any use to us in the UK. I haven’t heard of it prior to you mentioning it. I will be cancelling NetFlix, that’s for sure and may give LoveFilm a trial run. Personally, though, I doubt the UK infrastructure can cope with millions of people streaming HD video and unlikely to be able to cope as it becomes more popular.

Lol wow, again my apologies I did not realize your location. DISH is the 2nd Largest satellite provider in the US, and although we are expanding, the expansion as of yet is limited to the Caribbean. I’m not very familiar with the streaming capabilities of the UK, but after reading your blog, and subsequent comments, I will be paying attention more closely. Best of luck Sir!
