By now I’m sure you know that ‘internet marketing’ is not something you simply plug in to your website or blog and leave it alone. It takes a massive commitment of time and effort to reach your objective and to stay ahead of the competition. In just the same way as always having to keep an eye on the competition in the printed press, glossy magazines, radio and TV, you’ve got to be constantly aware of what’s going on around you in your industry -

  • who’s doing what
  • who’s saying what
  • who’s posting updates
  • who’s sharing content
  • who’s creating interesting videos and podcasts
  • who’s gaining all the exposure
  • who’s out-ranking you
  • who’s grabbing all the attention
  • who’s the leading authority…

Internet Marketing and Social Branding; Time, Effort, Commitment, Consistency

The more you do, the more eyeballs you reach out to. The more you say, the more people will find you and – providing you are consistently producing interesting content – the more people will subscribe, follow, ‘fan’ and bookmark your blogs, media channels and website… But you must be committed to the ‘long haul’ because the competition is feirce.

Nobody wants to be number 2

So you’re creeping up the rankings. You’re getting more visitors to your blog, your Facebook page, your YouTube channel and you’re kicking a few of your competitors out of the top search results on Google – now what?

They’ll want their position back!

As much as you are watching what others are doing on the web, as much as you are paying close attention to who you can ‘outrank’ on Google; they (your competition) will be paying closer attention to what you are doing and how your content is being more successful than theirs and they will start doing whatever is necessary to ‘beat’ you at your own game.

  • If you’ve got a more prominent position on Google – they’ll want it back
  • If you’re getting more views on media channels – they’ll want those eyeballs
  • If you have more subscribers – they’ll want those readers
  • If you have more followers – they’ll want the attention too
  • If you have more fans – they’ll want more than you…

and so it goes on, and on…

It never ends, so…

Get ready for the ‘Long-Haul’ of Internet Marketing and Branding

Or hire someone, bring someone into your team who can monitor the trends in your industry; someone who’s job it is to monitor what people are talking about, watch and listen and know when your company needs to respond, when you need to react, when you need to publish and to be able to be consistently publishing interesting content to your blogs, your media channels, your social channels etc.,

Commit to being the best, the most informative, the most interesting, the most consistent!
