You Got My Attention – Now Get To The Point

How often have you visited a website as a result of a Google search and when you get there the website seems to constantly be trying to get your undivided attention?

You know what I mean; animated banners, flashing doo-flips here and there, massive bold text with awful yellow highlights? There are some designers that simply don’t get it!

I’m here already!

You got my attention already now deliver your message and for jeepa’s sake – get to the point.

The more banners you throw in the face of the reader, the more you pull the attention away from the content they are interested in.

The more you announce ‘other offers’ or ‘special offers’ the more you dilute the impact of the page the reader is on.

The more distraction you add to the content, the more likely the reader will become confused and end up not taking any purchasing action at all.

The more unnecessary choices and variations you offer, the harder you make the buying decision.

The point: Keep it simple.

You got me to your website from a search, now give me the message you need me to hear.

Don’t shout. Don’t annoy me. Don’t drive my eyes crazy with all the attempts to get my attention (you already got it). Don’t clutter your pages with every offer under the sun.

Just leave me to go on my merry way through your site and let me make a comfortable and confident purchasing decision.
