I saw this photo and the thought that instantly came to my mind was “Timing is Everything”… A fraction of a second too early or too late and the opportunity is missed. Then I started to think how relevant timing is in all our marketing endeavours.
Timing may not be the ‘be all and end all’ but is sure is a massively important part of getting the marketing message out at the right time and to the right target audience.
But when is the right time?
When is your prospect open to your message? When is s/he watching for your link to appear or your status update to pop into his or her timeline? Only time will tell but if you monitor and experiment enough, you will determine when the timing is right.
Test everything.
Testing plays a big part in Internet Marketing; testing your headlines, your content, your structure and usability is obvious (isn’t it?). But do you take a scatter-gun approach to distributing your message or do you have a refined process? Do you look before you throw more content at the wall or just randomly chuck it out there hoping that you got the timing right?
Experiment.
Test updates in Facebook and see when you get the best response rates. Tweet at different times and monitor your click-throughs. Upload your content and distribute at different times and see when you get the best results…
It’s important to be consistently distributing quality content, be it funny, controversial or interesting, but it is equally important to get your timing right.
Til next time. Thanks for popping by. Martin.
