Having seen so many “How To” videos and ‘squeeze pages’ that try yo tell one and all How To Get Twitter Followers, I struggle to pick myself up off the floor.

Give me a break! Anyone with an ounce of commonsense can see that somewhere in that ‘offer’ is a scam or something that contravenes Twitter usage terms and conditions.
Twitter has ‘rules’! Which is why I was not surprised to see ‘Account Suspended’ on a few ‘Twitter’ users who post such crap, on the hour every hour. I even saw a video on YouTube earlier where some poncey dude was walking around his big flash mansion (probably rented by the hour) spouting on about how he had done months of research and now he can show you how to get a thousand new Twitter followers every day… All you have to do is follow the link in the description, enter your email address and he will give you access to the video that ‘reveals’ all.
His hosting account was ‘suspended’…

Here’s how to get Twitter followers:
- Follow people you are genuinely interested in.
- Tweet about interesting and helpful stuff.
- Reply to other people’s tweets and ‘start a conversation’.
- Retweet other interesting Tweets and give kudos to the original ‘author’.
- Be consistent but not religious about it (if you don’t use Twitter for a few days, don’t lose any sleep over it).
- Don;t constantly tweet about me me me me me and me.
- Don’t automate your tweets. Be human.
- Avoid over use of unnaturally scheduled tweets (ie: tweets going out at 2am, 3am, 4am etc) using Hootsuite etc.
- Don’t ALWAYS cross post everything you do. That’s just plain silly.
- Stop reading ‘How To’ guides about getting followers. Twitter should be fun, not a challenge we spend half our lives reading about.
If you act like a human and engage with other Twitter users with good conversation and interesting stuff, other people will be more likely to follow you too.
Interestingly, the more you engage, the more you share interesting stuff, the more people will take notice… And what do you know… In a while you’ll be getting new followers naturally and within the user terms and conditions of Twitter.
